This year, my annual summer/ birthday pilgrimage to Oakland and San Francisco was augmented by a three-day trip down to Los Angeles.

This Sunday was my seventh time participating in the biggest single fundraising event of the year for Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter – their walk around Stanley Park. This year I was joined by a group of friends and together we walked the new route which took us through the forest and past ancient trees felled by the winter windstorm. At the end came a delicious gourmet picnic lunch and great musical entertainment.
The felled trees and flooded streams, combined with late-afternoon light, made for some compelling if somewhat melancholy photos.
