Three-alarm excitement on Xmas Day

This holiday, an attempt to build a welcoming Christmas blaze in our new firepace led to a visit from three wise, flameproofed, men. It was three-alarm excitement!
We really, really thought the flue was open, but it turns out it wasn’t… so 1) our smoke alarm went off, then 2) our building’s fire alarm! Which of course meant a visit from the fire department.

But it all turned out OK, calm was restored, it was time for a much smaller, and safer, fire – a birthday candle on my Mom’s cake. (Yes, she’s a Christmas baby!)

Piano stairs: fun makes the difference

Amazing and wonderful how adding some playful interaction – and music! – makes “taking the stairs” irresistible. Props to the Volkswagen folks for making this delightful idea a reality!

Another TV ad I’ve appeared in is online! This one is for Peugeot, and unlike the previous “sumo” ad, I’m very much a bit player – 11 frames, to be exact. But I like to think it’s a memorable third of a second…

This ad will only be seen in Europe – where nobody will likely recognize Stanley Park or the PNE…

Hooray! Nearly three months after I filmed it in a pool at a Kerrisdale apartment complex, my first-ever professional TV ad is available for the world to enjoy. It’s a thrill to see it at last! And to finally see what shots they used, out of all the wackiness that we tried that day.

Mister Cellophane

I realized that this clip wasn’t online in a very accessible way (only as part of a montage of the Broadway Chorus 2002 show). I’ve dug up the whole song, and tried to lighten up the excessively dark video. This became sort of a signature song for me – people actually called me “Mr. Cellophane” – I had a ton of fun with it and it is one of my favourites. Enjoy!
