I wanted to mention a great scene-study drop-in held weekly and currently managed by a couple of friends of mine. It’s strictly scene practice, cold reads from a stockpile of over 500 scenes (and growing) of every description. This Tuesday night (January 6) is their first evening of the new year. It’s a great opportunity to do some scene work, very inexpensive to attend, and a lot of fun with very low pressure and an encouraging crowd of all skill levels!
My friend and (formerly) fellow Broadway Chorus singer, Kate Polsky, a talented singer-songwriter in her own right, is celebrating her birthday with a gig at the Our Town café (E. Broadway at Kingsway) this January 15 and 16. It will feature something extra special - a performance by the five-part harmony group, Verve Collective!
I saw this show at last year’s Fringe and laughed until the tears were rolling down my cheeks. So great to see it’s back, this time at the Jericho Arts Centre. A hilarious show, a razor-sharp cast, and a loving sendup of musical theatre styles. See it whether you love or loathe musicals! Here’s the details…
Nope, I didn’t participate - I just observed, like the sane person I am… got some pretty good shots though! View the photo gallery
