A message from the Save the Hollywood Theatre Coalition

Many thanks for supporting our efforts to save the Hollywood Theatre, either by attending Sunday’s Rally, writing a letter to the City, and/or directly offering your help!

We’re currently coordinating efforts to save this invaluable heritage community space, including the vital work of putting a business plan together. What you can do now is…

• If you haven’t already, write to Lizette Berdahl, the Mayor and council to oppose the issuing of the development permit DE417226, which would allow the owner to gut the Hollywood. See our website for full details, handy talking points, and a convenient link to all their email addresses!
• Speak to your communities about what the Hollywood means to them and how we might build a sustainable, attractive plan for the property owner.
• And if any of you have links to philanthropists, how about a plan to purchase the Hollywood and grant it to the community?

We’ve made note of those of you who’ve said you want to be involved, and the skills that you bring to this cause. There are so many tasks, and it would be great to share these out.

Finally, here’s a link to the wonderful short film by Silmara Albi and Curtis Emde, screened at the Hollywood last Thursday and Friday night, documenting last year’s efforts to present “It’s a Wonderful Life”.

Last year, to outside appearances, the Hollywood’s fate seemed relatively secure. We now know differently. And we need your help to make sure it truly is secured for future generations.
