City Opera News
December 19, 2007
On the verge of the Holiday Season, the Board and staff of City Opera Vancouver wish to thank you for your voices, your generosity, and your engagement in this, our first complete season.
Our special commitment to the Downtown Eastside and its revival, our music-making together in the triumph that was Canadas first Sing-Along Carmina Burana, and the work unfolding for 2008 is exciting to all of us.
Many of you participated in our Accent Inns draw, and we are pleased to tell you that its outcome had an unintended, poetic justice. The weekend for two was won by Mr Wayne Richards, of Vancouver.
Who is Mr Richards? As it turns out, an enthusiast of City Opera who made it his business to bring all of his friends and colleagues to our Carmina Burana, and did so at his own initiative and expense by purchasing CDs and music, and offering them as incentives. His pals came in singing droves, and were delighted to present the drawing to him, and our thanks to both Accent Inns and all of you who made it possible.
Meantime, we are preparing for the 100th Anniversary of the Pantages Theatre (see http://www.cityoperavancouver.com/pantages/), a major announcement about our first chamber opera commission, our new recording contract, and a Season designed to appeal to all of our friends, present and prospective.
We hope we may count you among them.
All best in 2008,
Your friends at City Opera of Vancouver
