The band consists of some of the core members of the Sunday Soul Service which ran for over 20 years at venues like Santos, The Latin Quarter, Cottage Bistro etc. The Committee consists of: Ross Barrett on tenor sax, flute and vocals. Tim Sars on baritone sax, tuba and vocals Shelly Kantrow on guitar and vocals Bruce Mortimer on bass and vocals Martin Eade on drums and vocals. Each month there will be one or more special guest performers. Singer/songwriter Dan Bern was scheduled to play the WISE Hall on March 15th. Unfortunately on March 8th Dan was involved in an accident with a snowblower that resulted in him losing the tips of his fingers of his left hand. The accident occurred in the US – this means his treatment is not covered and has to come out of pocket. Obviously Dan’s career depends on having his hands. Dan’s friends and colleagues are gathering to raise funds and to bring a great night of music. Geoff Berner, Jack Garton,Christie Rose, Ford Pier, The Tired Sunday Choir and others will be celebrating the works of Dan Bern. Contemporary Iranian Film Series… Tehran-born writer-director Oktay Baraheni studied film at York University in Toronto before returning home to pursue his career. His first feature, the social drama BRIDGE OF SLEEP, freely adapts Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment and transposes it to contemporary Iran. Shahab, who is about to get married, enters a business deal along with his friend in order to help his financial situation. However, he loses all his money and finds himself in financial hardship. Creditors chase him after he fails to repay the high interest loan he owes. His dad, a high school teacher, tries helping him but his fiance puts pressure on him.
