Calling All Singers!
City Opera Vancouver invites all local choirs, choruses and their members to participate in a unique musical event.
Join soloists Phoebe MacRae, and William George, with percussionists Sal Ferreras & Friends, and pianists Kenneth Broadway and Jason Sherbundy in performing Canada's first-ever sing-along version of Carl Orff's famous cantata, Carmina Burana.
Join us October 26, 2007, at 8:00 pm at St Andrew's-Wesley Church at Burrard an Nelson in downtown Vancouver for an extraordinary evening when a thousand people will be able to fulfill a great fantasy: singing the choral part in Orff's 20th century masterpiece.
We will give Carmina Burana in the chamber version, with two pianos, three soloists, and four percussionists playing 15 instruments.
The entire event is a benefit for City Opera Vancouver, a new professional chamber opera company that will be resident at the restored Pantages Theatre.

- An invitation to wear your choral robes or insignia;
- Reserved seating in the soprano / alto / tenor / bass-baritone sections, as preferred;
- Mention of your chorus in all media and program materials if ten or more members of participate;
- The services of our conductor and artistic director Dr Charles Barber and our rehearsal pianist at an early session of your chorus. With the consent of your music director, we will take one rehearsal to work the chorus-only musical materials, and do this by coming to you;
- An invitation to participate in a dress rehearsal one week before the concert;
- Music provided by City Opera;
- An invitation to a workshop with legendary American conductor Vance George.
