Jeni’s Picks for the week ahead

Dear Picks People…

Have somehow managed to injure my back and cannot sit at the computer for more than a few minutes at a time so this is as all I can do for this week.  So much more to add… and I will just as soon as I am able.  Jazz Festival starts on June 22. I have to be mobile by then!

41st annual Vancouver Folk Festival (July 13-15) line up is looking amazing. Advance tickets on sale until July 11.  More info here.

In the late 1960s, record store owner-turned-music producer Amha Eshete noticed something strange-there was no Ethiopian music being produced and sold in his country. Herein began the birth of recorded Ethiopian music, imbued with the flavours of funk, soul and jazz. North side of Robson Square.  Bring a blanket and pillow!
