To those on my list who are, or know, singers who might fit the profile, (and are in the Vancouver area...) I'm forwarding along the request below - it's from a "friend of a friend" in local theatre and I thought I'd do what I can to help her spread the word. By all means forward it to anyone you feel would be appropriate. Thanks! Adam ------------------------------ This is really urgent!!! The show opens in 3 weeks, so they need a chap who is a very quick study and a seasoned actor. They need to be a goo ...Continue Reading

I want to encourage everyone who's in the Vancouver area and who loves musicals to come out and see PROMISES, PROMISES, a wonderful show now playing at the Metro Theatre. Not just because I know several people who are in the show - but because it's terrific, and they haven't gotten the publicity they need to bring out the crowds this show deserves. I went to see it at last Friday night's preview performance and I can vouch for the fact that it's great! And no surprise - it has a laugh-filled script by Neil Simon, and ...Continue Reading

Hooray! After many, many attempts, one of my photos was selected to head up the Contents page of this week's Georgia Straight. I guess it proves one thing: even the hipsters at the Straight are suckers for a cute puppy. Especially if he's poking out of a backpack. For those of you not in reach of a Georgia Straight, the picture is below. To unsubscribe to the list (but why would you ever want to), just visit AdamAbrams.com. ...Continue Reading

Hi gang, Here's some pictures - and one video clip - from the Applause! Musicals monthly cabaret night held at the end of February. Truly an evening of hilarity with unexpected surprises - like the puppet performer... and the ukulele singalong. If you were there, revel in the memories. If not, marvel at what these zany people get up to on a Sunday night. http://www.adamabrams.com/galleries/latest.html Enjoy! Hey gang, The drive-in theatre, that long-standing but beleaguered family fun tradition, is under attack - by the GVRD. The Twilight Drive-In, the only drive-in movie theatre in the Lower Mainland, is being handed a huge "Parking Stall Tax" bill, because the GVRD claims that the spaces they provide for customers are a "parking lot" - no different that the one at the mall. Now, let's set aside the fact that the parking lot tax itself is an arbitrary and inequitable way for the GVRD to gather addi ...Continue Reading

Hi everybody, I got a message from Diana Sanderg (who I know through Applause! Musicals in Concert) saying that the North Shore Light Opera Society is still looking for a bass - rather urgently. I'm dutifully passing this along in case anyone on my mailing list is interested in joining up. Here's what Diana had to say: "Just wanted to say that they are STILL, and by now extremely, desperate for a bass voice in the chorus - by Sunday if at all possible. The numbers to contact: NSLOS office (604-983-6444 (box 698 ...Continue Reading

Click out the old, click in the new! Greetings everyone! Hope your New Year is going well so far. Just in time (barely), here's a January update! I'm very excited about some changes and updates on the site. For starters, the rotating photo gallery on the homepage has been refreshed with some new images (plus one intriguing old one - the former identity of the Fido building). In the Professional Services area, I've updated my website portfolio page to include recent web work for Medique S ...Continue Reading

======================================= An invitation for those of you in the Vancouver area. ======================================= December 6, 1989. A lone man walked into an engineering class at the ecole polytechnique of the University of Montreal. He separated the women and men and told the men to leave. After the male students complied, the man declared his hatred of feminists and began to shoot the women with the semi-automatic rifle he had brought with him. While police forces stood outside, Marc Lepine ended ...Continue Reading

Hi everyone! Matt Ramer, who I recently performed with in Strike Up The Band, asked me to forward this info to everyone. Sounds like a great opportunity - and if Matt's involved I'm sure it's going to be fun. Details follow. Thanks and have a great day! Adam === The North Shore Light Opera Society is putting on Gilbert and Sullivan's the Mikado in March 2006. This is probably the funniest and most musically brilliant show in the operetta repetoire, and is sure to be lots of fun. There are several spots still open ...Continue Reading

Hi everyone, I have a friend with some many-years-old, 8mm videotapes of a trip to Asia, which they'd like to view and/or copy to a newer format. I tried using my ancient 8mm video camera but had no luck with it (I think it's just about kaput...) Does anyone have an 8mm video camera that could be used to transfer my friend's old tapes? (She is willing to pay $50 for your time and trouble). If so, please let me know - thanks! Adam ----- To unsubscribe from this list, visit my homepage: http://www.adamabrams.com.
