Latest news for January 17th, 2012 I’m in “The Trouble With Richard” in February! My first non-musical is a clever and funny romantic comedy full of funny characters, great one-liners, and hilarious situations, as well as some truly touching moments. READ MORE Reflections on “The Artist” “The Artist” is a lot of fun and a particular treat for fans of the silents, but ultimately it suffers from some flaws that keep it from being a perfect 10. Hi all! Christy and I are interested in taking a first aid course for infants and toddlers, and a great option is the in-home course provided by the Red Cross. For $50/person, they will come to someone's home to do the 3-hour training session. We'd like to host one of these, but there is a 6-person minimum. We have one other couple available to join us on Feb. 5, but we need 2 more people to make it work. So, I'm putting feelers out to see if anyone would be up for joining us! Here's some more details: - $50 per pers ...Continue Reading

Hi everyone! Sorry for the mass email but it's one of those occasions when I really need to reach out to everyone and hope someone can help. I'm seriously considering moving on from the old Rambler and getting myself into something a little (OK, a lot) newer and more practical. The Rambler is facing some major work and, though I love it dearly, I may not be able to justify putting more cash into it - especially with little Max in the equation now. So if you or anyone in your own network of friends and family know of a ...Continue Reading

The tradition continues: join me this Saturday to sing for a women’s shelter! At this time of year, we all receive many worthy pleas for support of various causes, and understandably, it’s usually a donation that’s requested. Well, here’s an opportunity to support a great cause, and all I ask of you is your voice! Yes, it’s time for my annual Holiday Sing-Along and Fundraiser for Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter! Each year, VRRWS helps hundreds of women and their children who are escaping violence by offering ...Continue Reading

Latest news for August 15th, 2011 It’s been a while since my last newsletter – seems I’ve been doing more Twittering and Facebooking than long-form blogging. Is it because I now feel that blogging is too old-school? Nope, it’s just that having a baby around the house really cuts into your writing time! But I’m finally back with some items that merited going into a little more detail… and that I managed to write between feedings and changings. Enjoy! Video project: completing a lost gem – 60 years later It was my priv ...Continue Reading

Hi everyone! I'm passing along a request from David Beleznay, director of the short film "Brain Juice" which I recently performed in (and which is due for release sometime in the fall). He is looking for a clarinet player to help with the recording of some original music for the film. The composer is Rodrigo Ferrari Nunes and while there is no payment involved, it is a great opportunity to work with a very talented musician and composer. Here's a website with some of Rodrigo's music: http://www.cdbaby.com/c ...Continue Reading

Hi everyone! Little Max is doing great, 4 1/2 months old and all smiles. But Christine has been pretty low on sleep and we both are feeling the stress. I've always had great results throwing my suggestions out to you all, and this is probably the most important help request I've had reason to send out: does anyone have a recommendation for someone - be it babysitter, doula, baby whisperer, whatever the title - to assist with taking care of Max, doing some household chores, etc.? Someone you can personally vouch for as ...Continue Reading

Hi all! I'm trying to locate a bit of wardrobe for a short film I got cast in, where I play a bit of an oddball scientist. I'm wondering if anyone has a long lab coat I could borrow (I'm at the tall end of the size scale), or knows a good place I could go to get my hands on one. They film on Sunday so I have tomorrow and Saturday... Any help, tips or leads are much appreciated!
