The Vancouver Actor’s Drop-In

actorsdropin This is a great scene-study drop-in held weekly and currently co-managed (on alternating weeks) by two friends of mine. It’s strictly scene practice, cold reads from a stockpile of over 500 scenes (and growing) of every description.  It’s a great opportunity to do some scene work, inexpensive to attend, and a lot of fun with very low pressure and an encouraging crowd of all skill levels. Be sure to visit the Vancouver Actors’ Drop In Website for up-to-the-minute info!

About the Drop-In

We are the only cold read scenes drop-in in Vancouver. We are celebrating our 7th year in the studio at Cineworks and are now welcoming performers with a range of experience. Drop in to act out a scene and/or bring in a scene and watch or direct it. Monologues are welcome as well. Performers often hook up with independent filmmakers present. Expect scenes from classic plays, film, television as well as newly written scenes never performed before. Let us know if you would like to direct a scene you bring in. Most scenes are 1-3 pages enabling us to get people up on stage at least four times during the night. Socialize later at a local joint. Our stockpile of 500 scenes and growing include: The Graduate The Teddy Bear Chronicles Blazing Saddles My Cousin Vinny Macbeth Saving Private Ryan Monty Python Proof More dramatic, comedic scenes from about a dozen local writers, performers & directors When: Tuesday nights, 7-9:30 pm Where: Cineworks Studio – located at the back entrance of Pacific Cinematheque – 1181 Howe Street (enter alley on Helmcken and walk past parking spaces to the door). Cost: $6. (Any original written scenes will remain with the drop-in group, and will not be shared with anyone outside of the drop-in sessions without the express permission of the writer.)
