Here’s a great opportunity for Gilbert & Sullivan fans – if you can afford it!
You can participate in a performance of excerpts from The Mikado at Lincoln Center in New York, on June 24, 2012. The conductor is the North Shore’s own Edette Gagne, who has conducted shows around the world and is affiliated with the North Shore Light Opera Society.
It sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime experience, a five-day NYC whirlwind including accomodation in a snazzy hotel, rehearsal for the concert plus generous pre-performance advice and assistance, a ticket to the Empire State Building and a Macy’s gift coupon, a post-show celebration boat cruise, and more. Wow, quite a package. I expect I’d burst out with that “New York New York” song from “On The Town” once I was on the Empire State Building deck.
It’s $1300 per person not including airfare. Alas, I will have to pass, but I am forwarding it along for those who might want to go for it! Download details in this PDF.

This is not the first time that this church has crossed paths with musical theatre: it was the site of a multi-part Stephen Sondheim tribute concert in 2005. Click the link for some great photos!
